Up to recently, IT and Enterprise Asset Management have co-existed in their own rights each solving individual organisation’s challenges through a combination of people, processes and technology. The emergence of the Internet Of Things has challenged the traditional boundaries of physical and software assets management, to give organisations unpreceded insights into their overall asset portfolio.
With our combined expertise in IT and Enterprise Asset Management, Infraware uses these disciplines to encourage business transformation:
Improve asset performance and reduce downtime
Extend asset life to avoid new capital expenditures
Schedule preventive maintenance to prevent problems
Improve operational efficiencies and streamline processes
Drive greater innovation and return on your existing assets
Reduce costs and eliminate inefficiencies
ISO 55000 defines Asset Management as the "coordinated activity of an organization to realize value from assets". In turn, assets are defined as: "An asset is an item, thing or entity that has potential or actual value to an organization". This is deliberately wider than physical assets but these form an important focus for more organizations.
However today, understanding what assets you have, where they are and their value is no longer the sole purpose of Asset Management. As we step into a digital driven world where connected devices deliver new insights into your business, we are able to review, understand and take predictive actions that either reduce cost of operations, create process efficiencies or just simply increase your bottom line.
EAM market size is expected to grow from USD 3.15 Billion in 2016 to USD 5.24 Billion by 2021, at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 10.7% during the forecast period. (Enterprise Asset Management Market, 2016)

If you have heard or read about IoT, chances are you’ve come across a number of different perspectives. Despite how complex IoT seems, it essentially comes down to four areas:
Physical objects may be tagged with technologies such as barcodes, QR codes, RFID, NFC tags etc., and you need a separate scanner device (e.g. a smartphone) to interact with them.
Physical objects may also be connected to the IoT directly with an embedded low-powered computer device.
The connected devices may have sensors that collect data (for example measuring environment temperature) as well as actuators that trigger actions (for example starting an engine). You can use them to both monitor and control physical objects.
Analysis of the collected data is performed for insights on how to optimise existing processes.
So how do you apply these building blocks to your business transformation journey? Call us on +44 (0) 3339 397 967 to find out how Infraware can help you capture and analyse untapped data.
